During this course, we will look at how to make dyes from natural sources including plants and fruits, as well as rust and Indigo. Consider what mordants are and their uses. Know what eco printing is and how to achieve prints onto fabric using natural materials
Course aim
To introduce students to the basics of dyeing fabrics and yarn using natural materials such as vegetables and plants

- Select suitable plant material to make a dye from
- Know what a mordant is and how to use it
- Understand the health and safety requirements when dyeing with natural dyes
- Know how to make and use and Indigo vat
- Know what is meant by eco printing
