Experimental Printmaking

Ref: C3533516

Experimental Printmaking offers students the space and time to develop their printing skills using techniques that do not need a printing press. Students will have some printing knowledge and may have attended a previous printmaking course. We will work with different techniques each week so that each student makes a body of print work. Students will need to have a work space and a basic printing kit. This will be published in Canvas before the course starts.

Course aim

Experimental Printmaking is a course designed for students who wish to continue their printmaking journey and explore print techniques in more detail.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand and use a range of techniques for home printmaking.
  • Make a set of prints that reflects a growing awareness of different print techniques.
  • Troubleshoot any print issues so that consistent results are achieved.
  • Make a set of prints to show your understanding mono printing, collagraphs and lino printing
  • Annotate my work so that I can explain the processes I have used and the themes I have developed.

How will I be taught?

What kind of feedback can I expect?

What else do I need to know?

You will need a space to work and a basic printmaking kit. This will be published in Canvas before the course and we will discuss materials so that you can add to your kit as the course continues.
