This course is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to improve their British Sign Language (BSL) communication skills with D/deaf people in everyday situations.
Course aim
This course aims to introduce learners to some simple basic skills in British Sign Language (BSL) to enable them to communicate with D/deaf people.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners
- No skills or experience needed.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Demonstrate and recognise fingerspelling using the British fingerspelling alphabet.
- Understand simple, basic information presented in British Sign Language.
- Provide simple, basic information in British Sign Language of a personal, social, and, or work-related nature.
- Participate in simple conversation with Deaf people using British Sign Language, whether in social situations or work-related.
What else do I need to know?
You may wish to bring a notebook and pen. It could be useful to have a folder to keep any handouts in.
