Wetlands are a major habitat in the British Islands. They can support vast flocks of wintering waterfowl are home to a wide range of insects and plants. These areas can also capture and store carbon helping to reduce the impacts of climate change. They help prevent flooding of property and infrastructure. Waterlogged soils also preserve details of human’s early history in these islands. However, many of our wetlands are under threat. This course will explore wetland wildlife and their role in help taking climate change.
Course aim
The course is an introduction to the critical importance of water for both people and wildlife. It will investigate the important role that wetlands have in managing climate change and conservation of biodiversity.
