We look at setting up a community garden and compare to an existing one that has already been established. We cover: Identifying a location. Planning stage and working with nature. Gaining community Engagement and volunteer help. We explore community uses for the garden and future use. On going maintenance plans yearly and beyond.

Course aim

Learn what is needed to set up a community garden.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify a good community garden location.
  • Create a community garden plan.
  • Identify at least 4 uses for your community garden.
  • Understand community garden maintenance.

A notepad and pen/pencil will be helpful. If wet please bring good boots and wear old clothes for any practical sessions.
