As part of the South West Festival we will be looking at scenes and plants from the region, and how to use stitches to translate them into an embroidered design. Learn how to simplify a photo or picture into a basic design to embroider using traditional embroidery stitches. This two session course is for improvers and students with a basic hand stitching knowledge and an interest in learning how traditional crafts enhance personal wellbeing.
Course aim
A two session course creating a mini embroidered botanical scene. We will be looking at natural scenes and plants, and learning how to stitch them to create a decorative embroidery.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Know how to translate a picture into a simple design to stitch.
- Build on sewing skills and maybe add a new stitch to my skills.
- Have a little knowledge of natural areas in the southwest.
- Have felt the benefit of a traditional crafting on wellbeing.
