Getting to Know Your Sewing Machine

Have you a sewing machine at home that you have never been able to use? This course will take you from threading your machine right the way through to using your machine to make a simple cushion cover with buttons and buttonholes. Dust your machine off and make something lovely.

Course aim

This course will take you through the basic techniques of using a sewing machine.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Thread the sewing machine and wind the bobbin
  • Sew a variety of stitches
  • Complete a button hole using the sewing machine
  • Complete a machine stitched cushion cover

You will need to bring with you: Sewing machine Scissors suitable to cut fabric Snipping scissors Pins and sewing needles Stitch ripper Tape measure Thread Note book and pen All fabric for samples and the cushion cover will be provided
