Ever had a conversation, or overheard one, and thought, 'That would make a great play'? Here's your chance! This six week course will give you the chance to understand how plays are put together and understand their layout. You'll learn how to create dialogue and characters and a few theatrical techniques to make your page transfer to the stage. By the end of the course, you should have some interesting ideas for developing your work still further. This course is open to all, whether you have done some writing before or not, and this is your first attempt.
Course aim
This is a beginner's introduction to writing plays of your own, looking at basic structure and plot development.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Layout a playscript appropriately.
- Understand how to use dialogue and character to drive the plot of a play.
- Create drafts of ideas for plays of my own.
- Use stage directions and other theatrical devices to develop my ideas.
What else do I need to know?
You will need a notebook and pen. If you have a laptop or tablet, please bring. If you are considered clinically vulnerable, you must take advice before enrolling from Gov.uk. The Pound has limited parking. There is free parking on Pound Pill & Station Road, and pay & display parking in town.
