With some of the most important wildlife sites in the British Isles, the South West of England is well known for it amazing scenic beauty. This course will introduce six of the most important wildlife sites in the area including their ecology of the many plants and animals. These include the dramatic coastline of Devon and Cornwall, the extensive lowland heaths of Dorset, the great expanse limestone of Salisbury Plain and the large flood plains of the Somerset Levels. The course will help you discover how the wildlife is managed and what threats there are to the nature of the region.
Course aim

- List six nationally important wildlife sites in SW England.
- Describe three major threats to the wild plants and animals of the region.
- Outline the advantages and disadvantages of a rewilding approach to nature conservation.
