Environment: The Human Effect - Land - with Ann Williams

An introduction to the effect Human activity has had on the land since the Industrial Revolution leading to degradation and pollution in the 21st Century. This taster will be followed by a six-week course in the autumn that will go into more detail about the various detrimental effects of human interference and some of the positive solutions now being introduced.

Course aim

To provide a brief introduction to the history of human activity leading to the current problems of land degradation and pollution in the 21st Century

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Name a human activity on the land that has had a detrimental effect on the biodiversity
  • Select a human activity on the land that has had a detrimental effect on the soil
