Music Appreciation: Yiruma and Lang Lang - Asian excellence

This course will examine the lives and works of two Asian pianists: Lang Lang and Yiruma. Through a biographical understanding of their lives we will see how Asian culture has created such two successful musicians.

Course aim

To provide an introduction to the musical works of Lang Lang and Yiruma and to understand how their Asian origin has influenced their desire for excellence in performance.

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Know about the life of Lang Lang.
  • Know about the life of Yiruma.
  • Make links between their upbringings and their desire for excellence in performance.
  • Have an understanding of the culture of excellence in Asia.
