During the six weeks we will explore and discuss the impact the merging of the "Three Towns” had on the character of the City of Plymouth, as well as the devastating effects the Blitz in WW2 had on both the people and the very fabric of the city and the subsequent "rebirth" and rebuilding undertaken in the post war years. We will look at a variety of characters and events that helped shape the emerging city and offer the opportunity to investigate in more depth areas of interest
Course aim
To provide an introduction to the influences from the Twentieth Century to the present day on the development and creation of the vibrant, historical and beautiful city of Plymouth.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Name 3 people who influenced the development of Plymouth
- Gain insight into the devastation caused by Blitz in WW2
- Name the three towns that merged to form the City of Plymouth
- Have an understanding of the innovate rebuilding of Plymouth from the devastation of the Blitz
- Develop awareness of some of the new and exciting developments and places of interest in Plymouth today
