This course will give you an insight into the importance of Sutton, Stonehouse and Devonport in the life of the City of Plymouth that we know today. You will get a taste of the characters and features that made the 3 towns so unique, why they were established, their own unique personalities and discover why they eventually merged to form one of the most important cities in Devon.

Course aim

Did you know that Plymouth used to be 3 separate towns? During this free taster course you will find out where, why and how these three towns were established and how they and merged into the City of Plymouth in the Twentieth Century

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • know the names of the Three Towns of Plymouth
  • understand why the settlements were established where they were
  • have an introduction to the many characters who influenced the growth of 3 towns
