This course will appeal to lovers of Jane Austen and her works. We will examine the way in which her narrative techniques capture the reader and how her literary devices sustain our interest and leave us wanting more. A knowledge of her books would be helpful but newcomers to the world of Jane Austen are welcome to participate with a view to developing and expanding their knowledge of the canon of English literature.
Course aim
This course will provide you with knowledge of the narrative techniques used by Jane Austen to engage and sustain her readers' interest.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
- This course will be conducted online so use of Zoom and internet access is necessary.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Have an understanding of different narrative techniques used by writers.
- Have a specific understanding of the different narrative techniques used by Jane Austen
- Understand how the narrative techniques used by Austen engage and sustain her readers' interest.
What else do I need to know?
Internet access. You may like to have copies of the Jane Austen novels but as this course is online this is not compulsory as text will be provided.
