Enjoy writing stories and poetry on this friendly and supportive creative writing course. Each week we will look at a different aspect of creative writing with exercises that will inspire you to write and develop your skills. We will also look at how to write in the digital age - looking at how technology can inspire and improve our writing. This course will be taught online (using Zoom and Canvas) and is suitable for beginners and those with previous writing experience.
Course aim
To help you develop your skills in creative writing. You will practise different techniques and discover how technology can inspire and improve your writing. You will learn how to evaluate your own and others work and to present work to an audience.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Plan my writing by noting and developing initial ideas.
- Produce a piece of creative writing in response to an exercise set by the tutor.
- Upload, share and discuss writing on an online learning platform.
- Carry out online research to inspire, inform, and improve writing.
- Format writing using a word processing programme so it is suitable to submit for publication.
What else do I need to know?
You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom. You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas
