This course is designed for speakers of other languages who wish to develop and improve their English. Learners will see development of their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. This course will develop key skills in communication, vocabulary and grammar all at the appropriate level. There will be a variety of different learning methods, such as independent work, group work and class based discussions. The topics included will reflect everyday English in everyday life situations. Students can look forward to increasing their skills in a familiar and informed environment.
Course aim
The main purpose of this course is to help improve English for speakers of other languages. This will be taught through a variety of different topics all in aid of improving speaking, listening, writing and reading for English proficiency.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Make requests and participate in various discussions to obtain detailed information in familiar and unfamiliar contexts.
- Identify the purpose of a text and infer meaning which is not explicit.
- Use different styles of writing for different purposes including job search
- Use different reading strategies to find and obtain information.
- Submit documentation on a digital platform and participate in an online discussion

- You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas. - Nothing else is needed - All materials will be provided
