Craftivism Taster: Pebble Painting

Learn both the practical skills required for Dot Painting and applying messages to pebbles and how to use this for the purposes of community engagement and awareness. Bring a pebble and paint alongside the tutor to create a design to take home or to use to promote your own community project.

Course aim

To introduce learners to a practical craft technique which can be used for the purposes of community engagement and/or to promote awareness of a particular cause.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Know the origin of dot painting and one benefit of using it as part of a community project.
  • Be able to select suitable materials to paint a pebble safely.
  • Complete one painted pebble.
  • State one or more ways to use painted pebbles as a community engagement tool.
  • State one or more ways to use painted pebbles to raise awareness of a community project or service.

Please bring a flat pebble or small rock to paint on if you are able. Paint and dotting tools with be supplied. You may wish to bring a pen and paper for recording ideas during the session.
