This face to face lecture will introduce William Morris: Artist, Writer and Socialist as his daughter May described him. Best known today as a designer, but we will explore the many different aspects of his life and work and how they are relevant today and for the future. This lecture will be delivered by John Stirling who is the Vice-Chair of the William Morris Society. Course aim

This lecture will introduce William Morris, Artist, Writer and Socialist . Best known today as a designer but we will explore the many different aspects of his life and work and how they are relevant today and for the future.

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • This lecture is for residents of the North of Tyne Devolved Authority only - Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise 2 William Morris Designs
  • Understand the main influences on his design work.
  • Understand the impact that Socialism had on his life and work
