We will be exploring fundamental drawing skills, using a variety of materials to render and model light and form. Experimenting with figurative and abstract art. Primarily looking at drawing materials such as watercolor, ink, pencil, and pastel.

Course aim

We will be exploring using a variety of materials to render and model light and form. We will be experimenting with abstract art and more representational. Primarily looking at drawing materials such as watercolor, ink, pencil, and pastel.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • understand the different skills and techniques for at least two different mediums.
  • Understand the fundamental skills of tone by drawing a tonal drawing.
  • Understand the fundamental skills of composition by being able to change references to produce a stronger composition.
  • understand the fundamental skills of mark-making to create lively sketches from different reference sources.
  • understand how to sketch from life by producing at least one sketch.
