If you've ever wanted to learn more about contemporary sculpture, while exploring London by foot, come and join this engaging guided tour of The Line, a public route of contemporary sculptures by leading international artists in east London. Led by modern and contemporary art tutor Chantal Condron, this is the first of two walking tours exploring the entire route of The Line. Part 1 will look at 12 sculptures including Anish Kapoor's sculpture 'ArcelorMittal Orbit' commissioned for the London 2012 Olympic Games which is the UK’s tallest sculpture; 'Reaching Out', a monumental bronze work by Thomas J. Price, and Tracey Emin's beautifully poignant 'A Moment Without You'. Other artists whose works will feature include Madge Gill, Anne Hardy, Carsten Höller, Virginia Overton, Eva Rothschild, Abigail Fallis and Joanna Rajkowska. Part 2 of the tour will be on 9 June. Course aim
Are you curious about contemporary sculpture? Come and explore the work of leading international artists on an engaging guided walking tour of The Line, a public route of exciting sculptures sited along and near the river in east London.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Recognise at least 4 contemporary sculptures on The Line route.
- Name two key facts about three artists whose work features on The Line.
- Describe one or two aspects that differentiate viewing sculpture outdoors from viewing them inside a gallery or museum.
- Have contributed to your general sense of wellbeing from participating in a slow-paced walking tour.
- Have met other learners and shared viewpoints on the sculptures on the tour.
