This is a non-accredited course in preparation for the Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting. Please note that at the end of this course there will be an opportunity to complete a Level 3 initial assessment and check if the L3 course is right for you.

Course aim
The course aims to bridge the gap between the Level 2 and Level 3 Community Interpreting qualifications.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject
- 1. Minimum level 2 English and a community language– spoken and written 2. Awareness of some of the procedures, provision and terminology of local PS
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- By the end of the course I will be able to: Gain further understanding of the role of the Community Interpreter
- Gain more information about services where interpreters are needed
- Use a range of interpreting techniques
- Develop the skills to be able to carry out interpreting assignments effectively
What else do I need to know?
The WEA uses its online learning area, called Canvas, to support your learning. You will also join a virtual classroom using a weblink: the WEA uses a video conferencing tool, called Zoom. You will need a laptop, computer, tablet or Smart phone which has speakers, a microphone and a video camera.
