This is a Creative Writing for Wellbeing course where you can get in touch with your creativity and express yourself in a friendly, safe and supportive environment. There will be one face-to-face meeting every month and three video-conference sessions on Zoom in between these. The WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas, will also be used to support lessons and provide feedback. This is a chance to meet (online) with others and share ideas and experiences. It's also a chance to learn about techniques that help to bring writing alive so that you can convey your experience accurately and vividly.

Please note - this course is blended: 7 sessions take place online. 3 sessions take place at MIND in Tower Hamlets & Newham, on 13th Jan, 10th Feb, 17th March, from 2-4pm.

Course aim

A Creative Writing for Wellbeing course that gives you the chance to get in touch with your creativity and learn how to bring your writing alive. It will be mostly online but with a monthly session taking place face-to-face.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Get in touch with my creativity
  • Connect being on the course with feeling better in myself
  • Feel more confident about sharing my work aloud
  • Engage with my classmates for learning, support and enjoyment

You will need: an internet connection/ speakers/ microphone/webcam to use Zoom. A personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas, so that you can receive resources and record your progress. For face-to-face sessions you will need your own pen and notebook.

This course is funded by the Greater London Combined Authority but is also open to residents of other areas.
