Setting up a business or becoming self-employed can seem a bit daunting. This course has been designed to help learners understand more about the potential advantages of being self-employed. This is a short introductory course - students will learn more about the important first steps of becoming self-employed. This course will cover areas such as, current government initiatives, local job-centre support, potential funding for new start up businesses. Benefit from practical hints and tips during this 2 hour session.

Course aim

Do you have a hobby, skill or interest you feel could potentially generate an income? This course will help you to evaluate self-employment as a viable option for you personally. .

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • The learner will be build on their understanding of the advantages of self-employment
  • The learner will be able to access relevant free online tools and resources
  • The learner will gain an understanding of the main barriers to self- employment

This course will be delivered online using video conferencing (Zoom). If you are new to Zoom don't let this put you off - someone will help you log on and join the session. You will need email / smartphone - or ideally a tablet/ PC along with a strong Wi-Fi connection.
