This course will introduce you to various approaches and techniques to drawing and painting landscapes specific to this season's themes for example, garden scenes or exterior environment - urban and rural. We will explore markmaking, composition, mixing mediums, using acrylics for colour blending, building up and defining tones and creating textures. This includes wax resist, pastels over acrylic, using gesso, adding collage and creating glazes in acrylic paint. Please look at the material list on Canvas before the first session.
Course aim
This course will explore different approaches to depicting the landscape specific to this season's themes, colours and natural forms and will focus on drawing into painting, using acrylic paints and mixing mediums.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Draw natural forms using a variety of markmaking techniques
- Learn how to mix mediums to create texture
- Apply acrylic paint to create glazes or impasto
- Create exciting compositions using imagery as a starting point
- Develop a personal style and feel confident in using new mediums
