Students will begin to explore how skills, knowledge and experience can impact on teaching and learning in the school environment. Students will consider professional conduct and the requirements held by schools to become a teaching assistant or volunteer.

This taster is free to adults that may be interested in working as a Teaching Assistant.

Course aim

To recognise the skills and qualities needed to work as a teaching assistant

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Describe the skills and qualities required to effectively support teaching and learning
  • Identify school’s requirements and procedures for becoming a teaching assistant or volunteer
  • Identify next steps on the schools and parenting Pathway

- Nothing else is needed - A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you - Tutors will suggest sources of additional information where relevant
