This course is for you if you need to build up your maths skills and confidence before taking an accredited course in functional maths at Entry Level 3. This course focuses on developing the maths skills you need in situations like shopping, travel, house and home, DIY and health. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying with and without a calculator. You will also develop your understanding of different units of measure, including analogue and digital time.

Course aim
This course will help you to further develop your skills and confidence in maths. You will be able to practise your maths skills through everyday tasks and get ready to progress onto a City & Guilds Entry 3 Functional Skills Maths qualification.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Count, read, write, order and compare numbers up to 1000
- Add, subtract and multiply numbers with and without a calculator
- Divide 3-digit numbers by whole numbers with and without a calculator
- Tell the time in analogue and digital time in hours and minutes
- Use and compare measures of length, weight, and capacity and temperature
What else do I need to know?
- What you need: You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom. You could do this using a smart phone, tablet, laptop or a desktop computer (at home or through a library etc.). - You will need a personal email address to join the WEA’s digital learning platform, Canvas so that you can receive resources, record your progress and achievement and to work with others and share ideas.
