Design your own Jewellery

In each session you will learn the foundation skills necessary for jewellery design. We will cover the essentials of how to incorporate gemstones into precious metal jewellery using, for example, natural motifs. Work will be expressed in detail using your own 2D pencil drawings to create unique jewellery pieces. This lays the foundation of the design process before bench work.

Course aim

This practical online course will show you how to design your own jewellery collection. You will be shown how to develop your own ideas on paper using pencil drawing techniques to develop 2D and 3D designs.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Expressing ideas into 2D visual art using HB and 2B pencils
  • Gain a better understanding of how to develop a jewellery design from an initial idea through to a finished concept
  • Design your own metal jewellery pieces
  • Prepare a portfolio and samples, sourced from different types of visual research
  • Use a range of drawing techniques to create original jewellery designs

A4 sketch book , HB,2B and 4B, rubber, ruler. Natural resources will be suggested by the tutor.
