Italy: Empire, war and Fascism - 1887-1957

Ref: C2422697

In the second section of our study of Italy we chart the rise of Italy as an imperial power and the catastrophic impact of the Great War. We further examine the rise of Mussolini and his Fascist project between the wars. We will discuss the downfall of the regime and the impact of the Second World War before finishing with Italy's post war rehabilitation culminating in founder membership of the EEC in 1957. We will analyse social, economic and cultural developments as Italy moves from monarchy, through dictatorship to the post-war Republic. Throughout we will focus on contemporary sources.
