The course will look at the main features of the 'permissive society' and social reforms of the 1960s. The course will also explain how London became the fashion and music capital of the world in the 60s. Finally the course will review Britain's changing role in the world in the context of the Cold War and its loss of Empire

- An understanding of the main political developments in Britain in the 1960s
- An understanding of Britain's changing role in the world in the 1960s in relation to the Cold War
- An understanding of how the loss of Empire contributed to Britain's international role as a global power
