Develop your drawing skills to work out a composition, making tonal contrast sketches, creating rhythm to lead the eye around your drawing and watercolour paintings. Learn how to work out the proportion and to show buildings receding in space with a little perspective theory, including aerial perspective. We will explore different ways of looking, covering other artists, art movement styles and ideas.
Course aim
This drawing and watercolour course explores how to use a range of drawing materials such as chalk pastels, watercolour pencil and watercolour paints.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- You will develop skills to sketch and blend colour with chalk pastels on sugar paper or pastel paper
- You will develop some understanding of using colour theory to create depth in your painting using watercolour glazes.
- You will improve your colour mixing skills.
- You will learn some ways to compose pictures; how to lead the eye around a picture and how to combine information from sketches and photos.
- Improve your wellbeing working with other artists.
What else do I need to know?
A4 cartridge paper. pencils HB,2B,5B, charcoal and a putty rubber or r a charcoal pencil, artists chalk pastels, sugar or A3 pastel paper, tissue for cleaning, watercolour paper A3 300gms, palette or saucer, pen and Indian waterproof ink, watercolours, synthetic watercolour brushes.
