Develop your drawing skills to work out a composition, make tonal contrast sketches, understand how rhythm leads the eye around your drawing and watercolour paintings. We will work out the proportion and scale of objects, how to show buildings receding in space with a little perspective theory, including aerial perspective, and look at how different styles, artists and art movements inform our work.
Course aim
This drawing and watercolour course explores a range of drawing materials such as chalk pastels, watercolour pencil and watercolour paints.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- You will develop skills to sketch with chalk pastels on sugar paper, or pastel paper, and how to blend colours.
- You will develop some understanding of using colour theory to create depth in your painting using watercolour glazes.
- You will develop your colour mixing skills.
- You will learn ways to compose pictures; how to lead the eye around a picture and how to combine information from sketches and photos.
- Improve your well-being and enjoy an art session working with other artists.
