This course will explore how literature interprets the fallout of the Russian Revolution and the advent of Communist rule. It will address issues of liberty and censorship and the preservation of the individual consciousness.

This course will examine the Russian Revolution and its aftermath in literature.

- You will understand the relationship between writers and censors.
- You will be able to describe the dissident quality of Russian literature.
- You will be able to outline the importance of Russian women writers.
