Yoga for Beginners

The class will introduce students some yoga postures, gentle movements sequences, basic breath work, the importance of resting, balances in a body and simple meditation. In this class breathing techniques and meditation are also integrated. Students can expect an emphasis on simplicity, repetition and ease of movement. Full body relaxations and balance are the goals, as we make a full circuit of the bodies range of motion with spinal flexion, extension, rotation, lateral flexion, standing, seated posture, balance and inversion

Course aim

The course is an introduction to some key poses, basic breath practices, the concept of both I Yama and Niyama, using of props, the importance of resting, balancing and simple meditations

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate 3 different yoga positions
  • Perform 2 breathing techniques
  • Participate in 2 sessions of meditation
  • Adapt poses to your own individual needs
  • Practice at least 1 technique at home

This yoga class is for anyone and no previous is required. Yoga mats and props will be provided but if students want to bring their own mat, they are welcome.
