This session will explore a selection of portraits depicting Queen Elizabeth II during her 70 year reign, making comparisons and contrasts between the various approaches. Fully illustrated with discussion.

Course aim

To explore a selection of the various portraits painted of Queen Elizabeth II during her reign.

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Contribute to constructive discussion about the material studied.
  • Discuss and analyse a selection of paintings which portray Queen Elizabeth II, making comparisons and contrasts.
  • Understand the background to the production of the paintings, eg. who they were commissioned by.
