Family Historian Software Part II

To develop an understanding of the award winning genealogy recording software Family Historian for new and existing users. This short course is intended to develop confidence in data input and output with specific guidance on Sources and Interactive Diagrams. Some elements of customisation associated with recording material will be included. On completion students should be competent, confident and whilst these can be standalone sessions a Part III of these short courses follows on. Potential users of the Family Historian software programme can download a free 30-day trial version from the developers website www.familyhistorian.co.uk to help get the most of the course. The theory and methodology of building and creating a family tree will not be included.

Course aim

To develop an understanding of the genealogy recording software programme Family Historian aimed at new and existing users. Can standalone, build on Part I or prepare for Part III. Note the methodology of Family History research will not be included.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Confidently copy, manipulate, work and backup the Family Historian sample project or their own project
  • Navigate easily round the Navigation Bar, Focus Window, Property Box and Records Window
  • Efficiently add images for sources and individuals, adjusting priority preferences and correcting duplications
  • Publish a pre-set diagram with an inserted background having maximised the layout
  • Ably print, save and share a variety of reports with an without images

It isn't essential to have purchased Family Historian software to join this short course. However downloading the free 30-day trial version from the developer's website www.familyhistorian.co.uk in advance would be beneficial and aid progress.
