This course is for those with some sewing experience, who can work on a range of tasks with patterns and require support in understanding pattern instructions and symbols. Students are welcome to work on their chosen projects with tutor support and guidance

Course aim

This course is suitable for those with some sewing experience and who can work on a range of projects with patterns and require support in understanding pattern instructions and symbols

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use sewing and pattern cutting tools and machines safely
  • Learn new techniques in sewing such as use of an over locker, zipper foot and various other machines and gadgets
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various seams and hems
  • Produce a garment of own your choice with at least two different features such as a zip, a pocket or a collar
  • Embellish the item/garment with learnt techniques

sewing machines and basic sewing room tools are provided ,but it is advised to bring your own sewing kit
