We all often face sizing and fitting problems on garments bought in shops or online and don’t have the skills to alter or resize them. This is a perfect course for those of you who come across these types of issues but don’t have the skills. You will also get an opportunity to develop some awareness on sustainable fashion and impacts of fast fashion on the environment The course is going to cover a variety of advanced altering techniques and upcycling ideas.
Course aim
This is suitable course for people who come across the issues of fitting and sizing in garments, but do not have the skills to fix those problems. The course will cover a range of advanced alteration techniques and upcycling ideas
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- An awareness on fast fashion and sustainable fashion on the environment
- Develop embellishing techniques using decorative machine stitches and hand sewing stitches
- Solve sizing problems by altering garments
- Experiment creatively by restyling, adapting and recycling garments to give them a new life
- Create individual projects or produce recycled items and share ideas with peers, family and friends
What else do I need to know?
Basic sewing room tools and sewing machines are provided but it is advised to bring your own sewing kit
