Knitting for Improvers

This course will cover the next steps in knitting beyond the basics. It is aimed at those with limited experience and those wishing to extend their skills and experience

Course aim

Students will build upon their knitting skills, learning about some more technical aspects including colourwork and lacy patterns. Students will also learn about pattern reading plus different finishing techniques to complete their projects

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create a sample piece using a colour change technique
  • Use knit and purl stitches to work at least 2 different patterns
  • Explain how to read a knitting pattern
  • Demonstrate how to join knitted pieces once complete
  • Explore a range of different increasing and decreasing methods

Double knitting yarn, 4mm knitting needles, scissors. This is an online course so students will need access to the internet to participate in the Zoom sessions, in addition to accessing the course materials on Canvas.
