Making the most of Creative Writing

Ref: C2347074

Do you write and want your writing to be the best it can be? Does your writing need the boost of new techniques and skills? If so, come along to this friendly, face-to-face course in a safe space taught by published fiction writer and poet, Deborah Tyler-Bennett. The course is open to both beginners and more practised writers, and uses exercises in both poetry and prose. Topics allow writers to expand and explore creative skills whilst in the company of like-minded people. The Tutor also can provide information on getting work published, should you so desire.

Course aim

This course is for studying creative writing and expanding writers' knowledge of what is available to them as writers growing and exploring their own tool kit of techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • If new, you will learn as much from your fellow students, as from the Tutor.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • This course enables you to identify at least one strength in your written work.
  • The course will also enable you to analyse an area of improvement in your work - e.g. dialogue.
  • This course allows identification of at least three key skills in structuring a poem.
  • You will also be able to break down two elements that make up part of your 'writing voice' - such as use of descriptive imagery or 'tone'.
  • If so wishing, the course will enable you to prepare work for publication.

How will I be taught?

What kind of feedback can I expect?

What else do I need to know?

Paper, pen, folder, and a writer's notebook, whatever form, paper or digital, this may take.
