The course will use shared reading where participants read aloud from contemporary poems and fiction as a way for students to talk about their responses to the pieces. The course will take place online and will give students a chance to meet and connect virtually as we discuss pieces not in terms of literary merit but in how they make us feel and remember. The course aims to build confidence reading aloud to others and in discussing our responses. Over the four weeks we will look at poems, short fiction and the beginnings of novels. I hope that we will find much to talk about in a warm, supportive and good humoured online environment.
