This course is on document creation skills, knowing soft skills employers need/your transferable skills and email techniques to help with future job employment or contribute to your health and wellbeing. This course starts with H&S/keeping safe online then knowing skills employers want/transferable skills you have to help with future job employment. Continuing with Word terminology, tips, skills to create documents saving to a USB including using margins, page orientation, tables, headers, formatting, layout and spellchecking. Finishing with emails, netiquette, attachments and folders (if time) to communicate better for health and wellbeing.

Course aim

This course is for beginners who want to learn the basics in online safety, creating/setting out documents, sending email with attachments and comparing their transferable job skills to the ones employers want.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners
  • Email access to logon to Canvas.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand the 5 transferable skills which employers currently want and identify at least 3 of my own transferable skills.
  • Contribute/recall two items from staying safe online quiz.
  • Create and set out a document and save one to USB.
  • Learn 2 points on email netiquette and send an email (possibly adding an attachment).
  • Understand one way to keep a Word document or email accurate.
