By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • appreciate the importance of Attlee's's background and upbringing
  • describe of the main features of Attlee's personality
  • study his journey to the premiership
  • make an assessment of his successes and failures as PM
  • Discuss the contention that 'Attlee was the PM who saved Britain from revolution by achieving a revolution'.
