The act of writing can be very therapeutic. Whether with pen, keyboard, or dictation, we can fuse our thoughts and words for expression, release, organisation, and self-reflection. Within a safe and social environment this five-session course will examine and discuss various writing-related techniques that can be used to have a positive effect on our mental wellbeing. From journaling and expressive writing to letters & lists, safe-place imagery, and various creative practices, we will dip our collective toe into this field to pinpoint practices that could be useful in our everyday lives.
Course aim
This mental wellbeing course nurtures a safe & supportive environment wherein students can learn writing practices to maintain a more positive & balanced state-of-mind.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Express yourself actively and openly using journals and free-writing techniques
- Actualise and reinforce your resolve with gratitude diaries and achievement lists
- Communicate with your inner self via letters and dialogues
- Sculpt a safe-place using creative writing that can be used with meditative practices
- Practise poetry and/or flash-fiction that uses positive words and messages
