The topics covered in this course will be, getting familiar with the computer, hardware and software, using the ribbon, identifying the icons, use of the mouse and keyboard skills. You will use Microsoft Word to create, save and format documents, and feel more confident in the use of this Microsoft application which will help support employability skills.

Course aim

This course will help you to gain confidence in the use of Microsoft Word application to create documents and format them and also to increase employability skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Independently create a document, use the mouse and keyboard and be able to save and print.
  • Gain the skills to insert an image to a document, format and set the page margins and orientation.
  • Have a greater understanding of the icons on the ribbon and their functions.
  • Gain the skills to insert a table and use borders and shadings.
  • Independently create headers and footers and use automatic fields.
