In this course we will look at images (and where possible actual examples) of arts and crafts produced in the sub-Saharan areas of Africa. We will look at common imagery, media used and cultural influences. You will then be encouraged to make your own arts or craft work in some way influenced by what you have seen. There will be a wide variety of media available and you will receive help in using them and in developing your ideas. This is a very friendly and supportive group where students share their work and experiences.
