These forms of exercise combine both body movements and mental stimulation. The gentle movements energise the body without putting undue strain on the joints and muscles. Practised regularly these exercises will help to relieve stress and tension, helping body balance and increase a sense of wellbeing.
Course aim
To aid relaxation and balance and improve general health through the practice of Tai Chi and Qigong. Through regular practice you will progress towards achieving many health benefits, including better posture and better stability in health and body.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Demonstrate and practise the basic postures and mindfulness of Qigong.
- Describe and demonstrate the basic principles of Yang style Tai Chi.
- Show how to transfer weight correctly to help body and movement.
- Incorporate breathing correctly with the movements to achieve better health.
- Briefly explain how Qigong is used in the origin of Chinese Medicine.
What else do I need to know?
Please let the tutor know beforehand if you have any medical restrictions. You will need to wear unrestricted clothing and soft shoes, not just socks. You may want to bring a drink with you.
