Course aim

This single session course will run in English and offer an introduction to the potential that the French Massif Centrale offers to walks seeking either gentle local walks or more adventurous mountain experiences.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • explain, or show using a map, the location and extent of the Massif Centrale
  • describe the strengths and limitations of the walking maps, guides and waymarked paths available to hikers and strollers in this area.
  • summarise the way that the landscape of the Massif Centrale has been influenced by the activities of volcanoes, glaciers and human intervention.
  • select a walk to suit your preferred level of distance and difficulty

How will I be taught?

What kind of feedback can I expect?

What else do I need to know?

A notebook would be helpful and although not essential do bring any maps you may have of the area.
