Students will learn how to communicate in everyday situations, including finding and booking into a hotel room, booking travel and making arrangements and eating in a restaurant.

Course aim

Term 3 of the Spanish Beginners' course. To develop the student's ability to converse in and understand simple Spanish when visiting Spain or other Spanish-speaking countries.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • book a room in a hotel with suitable facilitities
  • make travel enquiries and understand train times
  • buy a ticket to travel on public transport
  • order food in a restaurant
  • demonstrate my understanding and use of numbers below 1000

Course books - Talk Spanish 1 (BBC); Spanish for Beginners (Usborne). Handouts may be available until students can provide own books. NB: Books are avaible with/without CDs, also as pack - books 1 + 2 + CDs, or complete with grammar book. CDs not necessary but advisable for listening practice.
