On this practical online course you briefly explore the work of several 19th and 20th century artists, looking at different styles as well as figurative and abstract examples. Taking inspiration from this study you will design and create your own original mosaic pieces using the direct method. The tutor will take you through the tools, materials and cutting skills needed and the group will spend time making together during the sessions.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Identify different styles of art
  • Recognise and describe the work of 3, 19th or 20th Century artists
  • Use your research as inspiration for a mosaic design
  • Create your own original mosaic piece using the direct method
  • Analyse and articulate your ideas to the group and give feedback to others

Tools, materials and equipment is needed in order to participate including cutters, tiles, adhesive and grout. A comprehensive list will be given 2-3 weeks before the start of the course.
