The course will assume no prior knowledge of computing and is intended for absolute beginners with little or no experience of using computers. It will take students from the first step of learning to switch on and use a device, through connecting to a Wi-Fi network and being able to carry out Google searches, whilst staying safe online While the course focuses on the use of Microsoft Windows computers, a range of devices including mobile phones, tablets, Wi-Fi etc. will also be covered
Course aim
You will gain digital foundation IT skills that you need for life and work, including turning on and using a device, staying safe online and finding websites using the internet

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Understand how to turn on and use the available controls on a device and use accessibility tools on a device to make it easier to use
- Show how to connect a device to a safe and secure Wi-Fi network
- Discover how the internet allows access to information and content via Wi-Fi, describe how to access the internet and open a browser to find and use websites
- Create, update and change a password when prompted to do so, recognise that passwords and personal information need to be kept safely
- Experiment and interact with the home screen on a tablet or smartphone
